Venetian blinds give the customer an amazing choice of looks and chic finishes for their slim line blinds.
Venetian blinds have their slats running horizontally (left to right), they operate similar to vertical blinds in by pulling one cord it will bunch / stack the slats together (at the top of the blind) when fully opened, then with a wand control you can operates the titling of the slats allowing the user to accurately control he light levels / privacy levels in a room.
The shading and shadow patterns that occur when sunlight shines on a venetian blind are very striking and can transform the character of a room.
Venetian blinds are suitable for a wide range of situations, due to the choice of looks and the various slat sizes.
Bradrail uses the slats sizes from 25mm, 35mm or 50mm on standard free hanging venetian blinds making them perfect for fitting in to narrow width spaces and taking up very little space and still giving space on your window sill.
Venetian Blind : Word of Caution
There are other types of venetian blinds including 16mm slats sizes and pvc slatted versions, but Bradrail have decided not to manufacture or supply these blinds due to the issues which may arise, usually to do with the slats bending and being creased easily which distracts from the attraction of the venetian blind.
Types of Venetian Blinds
Aluminium Venetian Blinds
Aluminium venetian blinds come in a wide range of chic colours and finishes [some with over 100+ slat colours / prints / styles] including textured, metallic, flat matt, gloss, mirrored, perforated and aliwood / aluwood (aluminium wood-effect).
Aliwood or Aluwood: Aluminium slats which have a real wood printed effect, excellent for conservatories or situation where the look of wood is required, but the environment may not be suitable for real wood blinds usually due to the extreme changes in heat and moisture which can react and warp a natural product like wood.
Real Wood Venetian Blinds
Wood venetians are generally produced from basswood, a sustainable wood product. Wood blinds always seem to provide an aesthetically pleasing look and add an warmth and fashionable finish to a room. A range of colours included painted colours, stains and natural finishes.
A choice of 3 slat sizes (25, 35 and 50mm) can be selected, the more slats the bigger the stack back will be and the 50mm slats seem to provide a more aesthetic feel making the blind more of a statement within a room
With now modern manufacturing automated techniques now make venetian blinds accessible at affordable prices, options including ladder braids, coordinating pelmet give any room a luxurious feeling whilst being made to your exact requirements.
Perfect fit Venetian Blinds
Perfect fit is the most modern blind system and have been developed over the last few years by a company called Louvorlite.
It is no holes double glazing system in where it included the use of a 20mm venetian blinds to be used. The blind is actually encased in a frame which is then inserted and held by the glass and the frame of pvc and metal double glazing units, it is a neat and compact system which was designed to meet the needs of new contract building and home users in conservatories due to the industry some times invalidating these window units when they had been drilled.
Bradrail has now being installing perfect fit for over 3 years now and has attended Louvorlite professional installer course and we have a great understanding of how to apply this product to maximise its look and aesthetics

Venetian Blinds Construction
Today's venetian blind manufacturing techniques have given this blind a new lease of life. Venetian blinds used to be completely hand made, which made the cost steep due to the amount of time and labour involved. Modern production techniques allows the standard 25mm slat aluminium venetians now can be constructed semi-automatically, cutting the time to produce and the price down.
The larger slated aluminium venetians blinds will carry a premium, as these are still made by hand and are a very intense labour orientated construction and manufacturing.
Wood venetians used to be expensive but are now available at their lowest price ever, this is to due to a set of pre made mass produced wood venetian blinds which now can have their slats cut down to make a made to measure wood venetian blind, this has been designed to meet the needs of the customer budget are very economical.
A deluxe version of wood venetian blinds which use a higher quality wood slats, have more colour, added braid ladders and allows the controls to be placed on the side customer request and completely made to order by hand are also available but most customers are not bothered about them due to paying the premium and the extended time required to manufacture these.
